Bunnies

Meet our new friends! A family in our ward was getting rid of their bunnies and we were more than happy to help them out with that! Emily has been wanting a pet, but her brother's allergies (and her mom's lack of desire to train a dog) put a damper on that. Bunnies turned out to be the perfect compromise.

After we got them, we opened the door to their cage and left them alone to get accustomed to their surroundings. Or at least, as alone as you can get in our house. Emily and Eddie waited patiently, but they never really came out.

The next day, the pouring rain stopped, so we went ahead and let them out in the backyard. They liked that plan much better.

Here is Arthur, named for Marc Brown's character Arthur. My kids have recently taken an interest in his books and have watched one episode of the show. Arthur the bunny is the more shy of the two and loves to just lay in the dirt behind the air conditioner.

This is Freckles. Apparently someone on Handy Manny has a bunny named Freckles, so it's the perfect bunny name. Freckles is not so shy and can be a little bit of a bully. If Arthur gets a piece of food first, rather than waiting for the kids to hand him some food, Freckles will chase Arthur around, trying to steal the food he got. It's kind of hilarious to watch the kids try to stop him.

Both bunnies just wander freely around the backyard. They are the quietest, cleanest pets ever. I love it!

Don't small pets in backyards in Arizona tend to get eaten by things?
