Ode to Food

A few weeks ago, I was reading a friends' blog post, dedicated to pictures of her kids eating. As I'm reading it I'm thinking, "This is cute, but it's kind of funny that she has so many pictures of them eating." And then I looked through my own pictures.......I take a lot of pictures of my kids eating! Just in the month of May, there were at least 15. And I realized that all the food pictures had good stories to go with them! So, I could no longer resist. Without further ado, my ode to food.

Emily and Edward love having picnics, but it is getting hot enough outside that Mom refuses to take them to the park for lunch or dinner. Solution? Breakfast picnics in the backyard. I had never considered eating pancakes outside in my pajamas, but apparently my kids had.

William loves the backyard picnics because it means he gets to eat in peace. (If I let him eat outside there is little consumption of food and much consumption of grass and rocks.)

Round 2 of the birthday cake when he was feeling better. My kid is a baby dinosaur and he likes to growl.

William was feeling left out during preschool. So he got to join the kids for snack time. He loved sitting up to the table and being one of the big kids!

I sent Emily outside with her popsicle and after a few minutes I peeked out and couldn't see her anywhere. I went outside to find this. Notice that the door is toward the wall, I don't know how she got in there, but she sat there happily and ate for a good 20 minutes.

And now, my sneaky food lover.

Opened the fridge himself, found sister's yogurt and helped himself.

I seriously need to find a better place for the cereal because this happens all the time. Fortunately, he rarely spills it. He usually eats quite neatly!

Sometimes though, he's not so clean. And he has very long arms. This bowl of oatmeal was apparently left too close to the edge of the table and this is what Mom gets for not investigating the noises in the kitchen for a few minutes while she was on the phone.
