Blessing and Surrounding Events

It has been quite the exciting weekend. Emily was blessed this weekend, but I will start from the beginning.
Friday: The weekend started out with going to a wedding reception for one of Jacob's friends from Grantsville. It was fun for Jacob to be able to see a lot of people that he hasn't talked to in a while and Clarissa got to have a good time meeting everyone. Jacob's parents and sisters also came, which meant that Emily got to meet her Grandparents!

Saturday: The reason Emily was blessed this weekend is because it's the weekend of Clarissa's family reunion. Therefore, the Hadley family would already be here. The reunion is a campout that starts Friday and goes through Monday. It was started by my great-great grandmother, so with 5 generations attending it's a pretty big reunion. This year there were about 400 people there out of around 700. We were not brave enough to camp with a 2 month old, so we just headed up bright and early Saturday morning. Emily got to meet her Grandpa Hadley and all of her Hadley aunts and uncles (except Matt) for the first time. She already met my mom because she came up to help me right after Emily was born. They were all very excited to meet her. In fact, between them and all the other relatives, it ended up being a really nice break for us! It was almost like having a free babysitter....or 30 free babysitters. The only downside was the scattered rainshowers.

Sunday: The highlight of the weekend was definitely Sunday, when Jacob got the opportunity to bless our beautiful daughter. It was fun to have all our family in church with us. There were actually 2 baby blessings this week, so between us and the Hobsons we pretty much took over the entire chapel. Afterwards we had lunch with our family and friends, which turned out really well and wasn't nearly as stressfull as I was expecting.

Monday: We got to hang out with the Beckstead family for a little while longer before Grandpa, Grandma, Amelia and Rachel headed back to Henderson. We went to Derek and Brandi's house and had a good time talking and watching the kids play. Emily also got a bunch of cool new stuff. She got some clothes and things from Grandma and lots of toys (and a changing pad, hooray!) that used to belong to her cousins.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. We all enjoyed being able to see our families who live so far away and it was an amazing experience to have our first child blessed.
